Top 22 Limit Texas Holdem Poker Tips
Are you playing and losing too many hands in Texas Holdem? Here are some poker tips for you to improve your game.
1. Play in a table with 5-7 players, not too many, not too few.
2. Choose a loose and passive table.
3. Sit to the left of the player with the most chips if you can. You want position advantage over the money.
4. Never play except when in your best shape.
5. Never play beyond your means.
6. Avoid playing weak and mediocre hands. Wait for great ones.
7. Play tight and aggressive.
8. If you play a good hand and completely miss it on the flop, throw it away. Just wait again.
9. Don't feel bad if you see a quad or a full house after you fold. You are out to win the war, not the battle. A weak starting hand CAN win sometimes, but it loses more often.
10. Most players tend to fold after a big win. Occasionally, play a weak hand to mislead the others.
11. Don't bet unless the pot odds justify it.
12. Use a bluff sparingly.
13. Don't be afraid to drop out of a hand at any time no matter how good your hole cards had seemed (like an ace pair). Any hand is beatable.
14. Don't call to the end with a lousy hand just to prove someone is bluffing.
15. Learn to read the board and find what hands are possible.
16. Before you decide to slow play a hand, make sure no one can make a better hand. A two pair can be easily beaten, but not a quad.
17. Memorize your opponents' styles, habits and betting patterns. This helps you guess their hands.
18. Never fall into a betting pattern. Break your habits.
19. Don't bet on the river just because you're there.
20. If you miss your hand on the flop and want to chase it, check your odds first.
21. If a hand won the last round, it is almost sure that the next winning hand will not be the same type of hand (flush, full house, etc.).
22. Don't play with trap hands like ace with a low kicker or offsuit king and queen. Play premium hands only.
Practice makes perfect. If you're not that confident about your poker skills, go play in free rooms in online casinos before playing for actual money. Play as often as you can. Make notes about your winnings, showdown performance, bluffs and other tactics. Play at the same tables and look for the same players. Make notes on them. Modern poker software have tools just for that. When you are able to read yourself and your opponents better, you'll notice your game is improved. Then get ready to play serious poker!
